THE CAPABILITY BROWN 300 FESTIVAL

The Landscape Institute received a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to establish the Capability Brown 300 Festival. The purpose of the Festival was to promote greater interest and understanding of the work of Capability Brown. Hundreds of events were arranged across the country during 2016, the tercentenary of his birth.

These included walking tours, events at his gardens, lectures, programmes for children and exhibitions such as of the marvellous English Landscape Dinner Service of Empress Catherine the Great of Russia at Hampton Court Palace. We liaised closely with the Festival.
